INTERVIEW: HOW I FOUND MY FREEDOM THROUGH ISLAM

Assalamu 'Alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuhu

I love reading stories about reverts to Islam describing their journey to Islam, and Alhamdulillah, this is such an amazing interview we had with a Muslimah. Do make sure you read it right up to the end, because trust me, it is such an inspirational one. MashaAllah!

So here it is:

TELL US ABOUT YOUR JOURNEY TO ISLAM

I lived a life knowing that God was one and in charge of me. I didn't really understand the significance of Jesus in Christianity. I would pray to God and end with "in Jesus' name" because that was what I was used to. Ironically I chose to get baptised at a young age but my mom prevented me because she wanted us to do it together. I lost that "high". I actually never liked church. My palms would sweat. We only went occasionally. What really got the ball running was when a former boyfriend, who is Catholic, asked me if I pray to God or Jesus, I said so quickly God. That's when I realized my faith didn't align with Christianity.

Nutritious Drink from Sunnah

The following post Shared by Ustadh Abu Khadeejah on whatsapp group. Kindly note that Abu Khadeejah (hafidhahullaah) is not the author of this article.
Nabeez’[Nabidh] was one of the drinks consumed by the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wasallam). In his time, it was typically made with dates or raisins and water.
It is an alkalizing tonic, having the tendency to remove acidity from the stomach and digestive system and it also helps to remove other metabolic wastes from the body. It improves digestion as it’s high in soluble fibre and it strengthens the memory. It assists the spleen function, liver, throat, chest and prostate, and so is particularly good for men. Nabeez will also benefit patients of Arthritis and elevated levels of Uric Acid (gout).

The Sunnah it is not understood with intellect and desires rather it is following and abandoning your desires! – Shaykh Adil Mansoor

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

It is incumbent upon us to accept the Sunnah, and must not oppose it with analogy nor our opinions. Today, opposing the Sunnah with intellect or opinions is common in Islamic schools and amongst the Islamic callers and different Islamic parties.
That which is incumbent is that we accept it and we submit to it. There is only one condition, which is the narration should be authentic. Thus, when the narration is authentic it is incumbent upon you to accept it and to submit to it, if you  understand it , then this is Allah’s bounties. But if it is difficult upon your heart to understand the a hadeeth, then refer it back to individuals who explain it to you and explain the Sunnah, or ask the Ulemah (scholars) about it. You should likewise ask Allah to guide you to the correct understanding.
Do not oppose the narrations with your opinions. (Then the Shaykh Adil Mansoor explains the wording of Imaam Ahmad Rahmahullaah)
The Sunnah it is not understood with intellect and desires rather it is following and abandoning your desires!
